The starting point, in historical sense, arises from my personal interest in pankration and their relationship with the edifice known as Oñate´s Palace, Medrano´s Palace or Hanged´s Palace as well as the series of transitions / mutations -among these: as supreme neo-galician authority´s house, fortress, barracks, lodge and alcaiceria −which led to the today´s construction that is well known as the Arena Coliseo.
Therefore, from my perspective, this architectural construction´s research −as important to my direct context, as well as of my distant and immediate past− in their historical, urban, and ethnographic evolution, as well as in their failures colliding with cultural artifacts from both the city’s museum and the luchistic imaginary.
As a result, these crisscrossing configure an interface allowing us to confront, even to connect with a different version of history and distribution of power −what it has ceased to be, and their multiple identities.
Thus, this intervention fuses −or it tries to be fuse− with the purpose that this space −the museum− owns; a place devoted to both the reflection and the study of history across traditions and customs in the capital city of Jalisco state.
