This artifact is composed by an assembled metal plaque as well as a large number of pigmented and organized little pieces of wax −manually made− depicting “The Idol´s image” −a Latin American wrestler´s representation− to be melted.
This apparatus acts as a method to explore conditions surrounding the individual −one who was acknowledged and defined through media. While all the process of melting via cctv is happening, work´s physical disfiguration and contextual information deconstructs and reconfigure codes and politics of display and view.
Thus, the work raises questions regarding both subject and representation, culturally conditioned memory, and social interaction.
