The importance of a mask lies in their protective, spiritual, ritual, the namelessness, or their entertainment qualities. Likewise, the mask allows the power of that anonymity or even stereotyped characters to be portrayed. In this way, I have recourse to Lucha Libre −considering that it penetrates into several facets of society.

In other words, from the streets to the elite, as well as being literally understood as such, a “free battle”− and the character “el Indómito”, −a professional wrestler from the 80’s− in a broader interpretation of both the concepts of mask and the indomitable −the wild, the unsubdued− I re-imagine and re-design their fighter vesture.

Consequently, this project presents a fused entity in a manichaean struggle -somehow understood as an artifact, instrumentalization or embodiment of good and evil. A persona who is on a circular loop and after several rounds, rather than invoking a quasi-choreographic action without rest, displays an absurd and cruelty act instead.

Therefore, the character themself decides the end of the combat; genuinely “wounded” stops and succumbs in defeat −of oneself. As a trophy, result of a successful confrontation. Thus, in this project, the viewer relates to and observes the process of a character who confronts both the mechanisms of domination −their own− and behavior in order to survive and develop, as well as to maintain their identity or rediscover it.
